Introducing MtnSteals

I’ve never been good with words. They always form in my head, but getting them out onto paper (or a keyboard in this sense) is the bottleneck. Maybe I think too fast for my hands? Maybe I’m just wayyyy smoother in my mind? Nah. Or maybe I just need more practice. Probably that one.

In all honesty, this blog shouldn’t even have many words if it plays out how I expect it to. One of my hobbies is finding great deals on great products. This is a place for me to share those, and to play around with a website at the same time.

Why do this? Well, first off, I’m bored. But secondly, and more importantly, I love the outdoors. I love outdoor gear, equipment and clothing. But that **$%T’s expensive. So I’ve done what most people do, and instead of buying that really nice but really expensive pair of climbing pants, I buy a cheap pair off the internet. Fast forward a few months, and those pants ripped and I’m back on the market.

Did you know that every year, over 92 million tonnes of textiles are thrown in landfills. At this rate, the global textiles emissions rate will increase 50% in the next 6 years. The fashion industry alone is responsible for 20% of global waste water. That includes those cheap climbing pants I may or may not have bought.

So as cliche as it sounds, and as tone deaf as it is, sometimes “buy nice, not twice” can actually be a good thing. But boy, is it expensive. And let’s not get into the societal qualms of many of these big businesses. For now, lets just stick to finding good gear at great prices, regardless of your motivation.

I’m not quite sure what the end product of MtnSteals will look like, but we’re off!
